Usage and Tips
Colour Awareness - Ask your children to identify, name and find other objects the same as the basic primary colours of the snow dough. To teach secondary colours, flatten two pieces of the chosen primary colours, press and squish together, flatten and fold in half. Repeat until you have a new colour.
Yellow + Red = Orange, Yellow + Blue = Green, Blue + Red = Purple, Blue + Green = Aqua, any colour plus white = a lighter shade.
Hand/Eye Co-ordination - Use a variety of objects and tools that are guided by hand, to work with the snow dough. This could include cookie cutters, plastic rolling pin, spatula, plastic knife and child safe scissors. Use the hands to mould and shape the snow dough around many objects, which could include photo frames, plates, mugs, tins to store pens etc. Repetitive play will promote and strengthen the ability to control hand movement guided by vision.
Fine Motor Skills - Younger children make larger models or cover larger objects, that require less finger and hand finesse and older kids make more delicate models, with more details, that require a higher level of finger agility. Ideal for younger and older kids.
Creativity - Combine Snow Dough with other mediums eg. pottery, glass, wood, textiles and objects like pipe cleaners, sequins, googly eyes to let your kid’s imagination run wild. Covering and adding snow dough to objects also lets your child personalise items that would otherwise be standard, developing their sense of personal style and making cute, handmade, cost effective gifts for friends and family. After a few hours once the snow dough has air dried, it becomes hard, and lasts a very long time. Also use in school projects and models.
Tactile Sensory - The soft beads are easy to squeeze and manipulate into all shapes and forms. A gooey feeling but does not leave a mess.
Calming - Playing with the soothing, bubbly yet gooey texture of the snow dough is stress relieving and helps to calm minds.
Getting Started - Prepare snow dough for 1 minute before use. Simply flatten it out on your work surface (not paper) using both hands. Fold Snow Dough in half, flatten it and repeat until soft, flexible and well mixed. Also knead and squeeze Snow Dough in your hands, BUT do not stretch and do not pull apart.
